Remaining Five Final Fantasy IX Characters Revealed!
April 18th, 2000 - Up until now, only three of the
eight main characters in Final Fantasy IX had been announced... and now that they have been confirmed, what a strange bunch they are too! Sakaguchi recently commented that they would be 'unusual characters' and because it's 'fantasy', it's a world 'full of different types
of beings'. We would imagine that a chef-like creature that eats too much fits nicely into that description...
(Note: please
remember that all name translations are more-or-less bound to be incorrect come the official western launch - the names
you see below are rough translations).
Garnet Till Alexandros
The beautiful Garnet is a princess in the Royal Family of the Kingdom of Alexandria. Many commoners think she is
selfish as she has different values. She is almost certainly the princess that Steiner is assigned to protect throughout the game.
Previously thought to be called 'Eiko' in the Coca Cola Commercial, it seems that Garnet plays
a very important role in the story of Final Fantasy IX...
Quina Quen
Quina is a strange looking creature that likes to eat incredible amounts of food!
Looking very plump, he or she seems to be wearing some
sort of chef's hat, and rumours are flying around the internet that his weapon is a huge fork! Characters don't get much
stranger than this... Well, unless you count Cait Sith. :)
Freya Crescent
Freya is a brave female warrior troubled by her past. Mentally very sensitive, she combines grace and strength in her fighting style and can feel the 'very ebb and flow of nature'.
Salamander Coral
Coral is a 'hard-boiled' person who tends to talk about himself a lot being very self-conceited. He believes in only
himself and his own training, and that power and strength is everything.
As he is so egotistical, he finds it hard to get along with others.
Eiko Callor
Eiko is an extremely bright at only six years of age; a prodigy who has the respect of all who talk to her.
In an earlier update Eiko was wrongly associated with Garnet's character in the Coca-Cola commercial.
